Work-in-Progress Wednesday #2

Hey ya’ll. This week I am going to share a short excerpt from my current work-in-progress (often referred to as WIP.)

Writers, if you’d like share an excerpt from your current WIP.

Readers, if you’d like share a line that resonated with you from a favorite book. Be sure to tell us the name of the author and book.

They called it an island, but to Sam Langley–the same Sam Langley who had once fallen overboard in the middle of Chesapeake Bay–Cape Hatteras was an isolated, glorified sand bar in constant battle with the Atlantic

If Ellie had a pistol in her reticule, she’d turn around and shoot Doctor Benjamin Northrop in his wayward and deceptive heart. As it was, the cover of the poor hymnal suffered deep impressions from her nails. Of course, she would never willingly cause anyone harm, not even him. She reminded herself to relax her grip, even though the dratted man standing directly behind her made the feat nearly impossible. Especially since his long, and ever so drawn out, breaths continually brushed across the loose tendrils near her ear, tickling her nape as his baritoned notes drowned out the rest of the congregation.
